After Expo 2020 Dubai, here’s all you need to know about Expo 2025

  DUBAI – As the Expo 2020 Dubai draws to a close on Thursday (March 31), Expo 2025 Osaka Kansai organisers said they are ready to take the baton. Construction is underway in Japan, with officials saying that they will take inspiration from Expo 2020 Dubai, the first World Expo to be held in the Middle East. Wakamiya Kenji, Minister for World Exo 2020, described Expo 2020 Dubai as “overwhelmingly attractive”. "We will learn a lot from this Expo based upon its legacy. We will do our part, we will relay the baton," Kenji said. He expressed particular interest in Expo’s theme weeks, saying they are "a great idea, and we want to capitalise on that kind of insight, and perhaps use a similar strategy to highlight our focuses." Aiko Yabunaka, secretary-general of the Japan Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai, confirmed that the pavilion would be dismantled, but the façade will be used in Expo 2025. Construction of the Expo 2025 Osaka Kansai site is well underway, said Ichinoki Manatsu, Deputy Secretary-General of the Japan Association for the 2020 World Exposition. Manatsu confirmed the artificial island had been filled, the subway was being laid out, and that by April 2023 the land would be ready for the building work to begin. Construction is expected to be completed by April 2025. Expo 2025 will be held between April 13 and October 13, 2025 in the Osaka-Kansai region of Japan.
