3 Indians, Filipina win Dh250,000 each in Big Ticket Abu Dhabi e-draws

Three Indian nationals in Sharjah and Qatar and a Filipina in Abu Dhabi took home Dh250,000 each in the weekly cash prize draws in Big Ticket in June, organisers announced on Monday (July 18). The weekly draws are separate from the monthly grand prize draw of Big Ticket. The first week of June saw Qatar-based Indian expatriate Decrus Sebastian win Dh250,000. Sebastian moved to the UAE in 2001 before relocating to Qatar in 2010. Sebastian said he will be splitting the prize with eight friends who have pooled their money to buy a ticket to the Big Ticket draw. In the second week, it was Sharjah resident Sooraj Lal who won Dh250,000. The Indian national has lived in the UAE in the last 16 years, and has been buying Big Ticket every month in the last four years. Lal said he will be sharing the prize with 12 other friends. Another Indian national took home Dh250,000 in the third weekly draw in June. Muhammed Shamnas, a Qatari resident, is a burger and sandwich maker who is overjoyed to have gotten the windfall. Shamnas said he will be sharing the prize with his group of 30 people who have been pooling their money to buy the ticket every month in the last two years. Finally, it was Abu Dhabi-based Filipina Rosemarie Mangunay who won Dh250,000 in the fourth week of the e-draw. Mangunay screamed from excitement when Big Ticket representatives broke the news to her. Mangunay has been living in the UAE in the last 14 years; working as a private family driver. She will be sharing the cash prize with a group of 12 people that includes Indian and Pakistani drivers and security guards. They have been taking turns buying the ticket, and last May, it was Mangunay’s turn to buy the ticket. The Filipina said she will be using a part of her winnings to care for her elderly father and her three children. ICA/Expat Media
