5 Filipino repatriation flights from UAE scheduled in July
DUBAI – At least five repatriation flights for Filipinos in the UAE have been scheduled in July to bring home emergency cases, sources told Expatmedia.net. This came after the Philippine government chartered a flight on Wednesday (June 30) to bring home some 354 Filipinos in the UAE. Foreign Affairs Undersecretary for Migrant Workers’ Affairs Sarah Lou Arriol and the Philippine Embassy in the UAE announced that the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) will charter flights for Filipino expats in the UAE on July 12, 17, 27 and 3o. According to the embassy, the July 12 flight is already fully booked. Those who wish to get a seat on the remaining flights can contact the DFA on atn@dfa.gov.ph. Currently, Filipinos with medical conditions, pregnant women, with expired or expiring visas, and emergency cases are being prioritized. The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration is also chartering a flight on July 10, a source told Expatmedia.net. Currently, only passengers on repatriation flights are allowed to enter the Philippines as the country extended a travel ban on passengers from the UAE and six other countries until July 15. The decision is part of precautionary measures against the spread of a new variant of the Covid-19.Guide to Filipino repatriation from UAE: what to do
