Abu Dhabi: Impounded vehicles exceeding Dh7,000 traffic fines to be sold at a public auction

On Monday (April 25), the Abu Dhabi Police issued a warning stating that motorists who have impounded vehicles with more than Dh7,000 accumulated traffic penalties are encouraged to pay to avoid having their cars confiscated and auctioned to the public. According to a Facebook post by Abu Dhabi Police, the vehicles will be impounded and held for three months. Vehicle owners should pay the total amount to avoid having their vehicles processed for the auction. Furthermore, the authorities also said that if the owner does not have enough money to pay upfront, they can seek help from banks. The First Abu Dhabi Bank, Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank, Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank, Mashreq, and Emirates Islamic Bank accept loan applications to allow impounded vehicle owners to obtain a one-year loan at 0% interest.
