Abu Dhabi toll gate system starts January 2

  ABU DHABI – Authorities called on vehicle owners to register for the toll gate system, Darb, and activate their account ahead of the start of operations from January 2. The toll gate system will be implemented beginning on January 2. Motorists need to register their account via https://darb.itc.gov.ae or via the Darb app. Darb will be activated during peak times on four bridges leading into Abu Dhabi, from 7am to 9am, and from 5pm to 7pm. Motorists will be charged Dh4 for each crossing. Monthly fees are capped at Dh200. The toll gate system was initially scheduled to go live in October last year, but this was delayed to allow motorists more time to prepare for Abu Dhabi’s first toll gate system. In March, transport authorities announced an exemption of charges as part of efforts to ease the financial burden on motorists due to the pandemic. ICA/Expat Media
