Coronavirus in UAE: 842 new Covid-19 cases, 821 recoveries in 24 hours

  DUBAI – The UAE on Wednesday (September 16) recorded 842 new coronavirus cases and 821 recoveries in 24 hours. One more person also died of Covid-19, bringing the death toll to 402. The latest figures bring the UAE’s coronavirus tallies to 81,782 diagnosed cases and 71,456 recoveries. There are currently 9,924 active Covid-19 cases in the UAE. Officials have said the recent surge in new cases was the result of people ignoring the UAE’s precautionary measures. The highest number of daily infections was recorded on September 12 when 1,007 people tested positive for Covid-19 in 24 hours. Meanwhile, mass testing continues in the UAE, with 93,682 new Covid-19 tests conducted in 24 hours. Inspections of commercial establishments also continued, with the Dubai Economy on Wednesday issuing fines to 12 businesses and a warning to five others for non-compliance to safety measures.
