Third Covid-19 vaccine dose in UAE: who qualifies

  DUBAI – UAE authorities on Tuesday (May 25) clarified who qualifies to get a third dose or booster shot of the Covid-19 vaccine. Dr. Farida Al Hosani, spokesperson for the UAE Health Sector, said in a briefing that individuals will be evaluated to ensure that they meet the criteria for a third dose of the vaccine. Dr. Al Hosani said that evaluations will be carried out through pre-appointment services. She said that the priority is the administer two doses of Covid-19 vaccine to qualified Emiratis and expatriates. In an earlier interview, Dr. Al Hosani said that if booster shots of Covid-19 vaccines are required, they must be taken six to eight months after the second dose. Authorities have said that people with a low antibodies count can ask for a third vaccine jab. However, third doses should not be taken too early, said Dr. Al Hosani. "The duration might differ from vaccine to vaccine, but it's expected that after six to eight months ... most of the Covid vaccines will require a booster dose," she told Dubai Eye radio.
