Motorists across Dubai will soon pay slightly more for public parking after parking operator Parkin confirmed that a 5 percent Value Added Tax (VAT) will be applied to public parking services starting on June 1. The company said the adjustment will apply in line with UAE tax regulations and reflects compliance with federal financial legislation. The VAT will cover Parkin’s full range of public parking-related services across Dubai. These include: • On-street parking • Off-street public parking facilities • Seasonal parking subscriptions • Parking permits • Reservation services As a result, motorists and subscribers can expect a slight increase in service charges once the tax takes effect. Parkin said customers are encouraged to review updated pricing schedules ahead of implementation. The move aligns with the UAE’s broader VAT framework introduced nationwide in 2018, under which taxable goods and services are generally subject to a standard 5 percent levy. Parkin said the latest adjustment reflects its commitment to full regulatory compliance while ensuring continued service delivery across Dubai’s parking network. ICA/Expat Media
