Motorists across Dubai are now paying slightly more for public parking after parking operator Parkin implemented a 5 percent Value Added Tax (VAT) on its services. The company said the adjustment that took effect starting June 1 applies to its full range of parking-related services in compliance with UAE tax regulations and federal financial legislation. The VAT covers on-street parking, off-street public parking facilities, seasonal parking subscriptions, parking permits, and reservation services across Dubai. As a result, motorists, monthly subscribers, and businesses that rely on long-term public parking permits will see a modest increase in costs. Parkin advised customers to review updated pricing schedules to understand how the VAT affects their parking expenses. The move aligns with the UAE's VAT framework introduced in 2018, under which most taxable goods and services are subject to a standard 5 percent levy. Parkin said the implementation reflects its commitment to regulatory compliance while maintaining services across one of the region's largest public parking networks. The company manages thousands of parking spaces throughout Dubai, including business districts, residential communities, and high-demand public areas.
