Sheikh Hamdan issues resolution on Dubai tourist camps

  DUBAI – Tourist camps or desert camps in Dubai will need to follow tighter new rules after the Crown Prince of Dubai issued a new resolution on Monday (August 31). Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai, issued the resolution. Under the new rules, tourist camp operators in Dubai must adhere to the occupancy limit for the camp, as stated in their permit. They are prohibited from changing the camp’s location without obtaining a permit, and must respect their contractual obligations to customers. Dubai tourist camp operators must also document all the services they offer within the camp and must follow all health, sanitation, safety and security requirements. The resolution is applicable to all tourist camps in Dubai, including those within private development zones, free zones and the Dubai International Financial Centre. The Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) is the sole entity responsible for regulating and establishing standards for the set up and operation of tourist camps in Dubai. Operators must obtain a permit from DTCM in order to set up and operate tourist camps in Dubai. DTCM is expected to issue bylaws and guidelines to implement the resolution. ICA/Expat Media
