Dubai Police, Interpol arrest 9,000 most wanted criminals

More than 9,000 most wanted criminals were arrested in 195 countries with the help of Dubai Police with the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol). The figures came from Jurgen Stock, Secretary-General of Interpol, at the World Police Summit in Dubai. According to Stock, the suspects were involved in financial crimes, which resulted in losses worth more than Dh6.19 billion. Cyber fraud tops the list of international crimes. Emphasizing the importance of international cooperation to bridge security gaps, Stock highlighted that more than 400 training courses had been delivered worldwide to boost several countries' crime-fighting capabilities. Stock reiterated that the increasingly complex reality requires international solutions and strengthening partnerships in all sectors. "We need in this battle a bridge between the police and the financial sector, and for this reason, the Financial Crimes Centre in the organization helps us confront this type of crime," he added.
