Family of UAE’s 5th coronavirus case clear of virus

  DUBAI – The family of a man identified as the fifth positive case of coronavirus in the UAE is not infected with the virus, authorities said. A health ministry official confirmed that the man’s family is “clear” of infection. The man had visited the UAE from the Chinese city of Wuhan, considered the epicenter of the virus that has spread to at least 14 countries. Dr. Hussein Al Rand, assistant undersecretary at the Ministry of Health and Prevention, said the family of the tourist “did not show any symptoms and is clear of the virus.” The male tourist, however, was diagnosed at a health facility in the UAE and is currently receiving medical care for coronavirus. He is reportedly in stable condition. Health officials did not disclose where the man and his family are staying in the UAE, but said “there is no reason to panic”, citing “preventive measures in place”. The UAE reported its first case of coronavirus on January 29, when a four-member Chinese family tested positive for the virus.
