Preliminary and unofficial results show Ferdinand Marcos Jr. dominating the presidential elections in the Philippines potentially returning the Marcos dynasty to the Malacañang Palace. According to a partial and unofficial calculation of the Commission on Elections (COMELEC), Marcos Jr. garnered approximately 30 million votes, more than double the votes received by the outgoing Vice President Leni Robredo, who has about 14 million votes. Marcos Jr's running mate for vice president, Sara Duterte Carpio, the daughter of the outgoing President Rodrigo Duterte, is also leading the vice presidential race. On Tuesday (May 10), demonstrators, mainly students and members of progressive organizations, gathered outside the Philippines electoral commission in the capital Manila, carrying banners and slogans in protest of Marcos claiming that there were election anomalies.
