Home quarantine period now longer in Abu Dhabi

DUBAI – Vaccinated people must now quarantine for seven days instead of five days as Abu Dhabi extended its home quarantine rules for Covid-19 close contacts. Authorities on Tuesday (July 6) also announced that close contacts of those who tested positive for Covid-19 must take a PCR test on the sixth day of their quarantine. If the PCR test result is negative, the tracker device worn by the individual can be removed on the seventh day. For unvaccinated people, home quarantine is now 12 days instead of five days, plus a PCR test to be taken on the eleventh day. The tracking device can be removed on the 12th day if the person tests negative for Covid-19. According to the Abu Dhabi Emergency, Crisis and Disasters Committee and Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre, the move is part of efforts to combat the pandemic. The tracking devices can be removed at government health centres in the capital, including Mafraq Hospital, Adnec and Al Ain Convention Centre. On Sunday, Abu Dhabi authorities announced that vaccinated travellers flying into the emirate from countries not on its green list will need to quarantine for seven days instead of five days. Unvaccinated passengers from countries not on the green list will have to quarantine for 12 days, instead of 10. As of July 5, travelers arriving from countries on the green list are not required to undergo quarantine. In the UAE, more than 64 percent of the population is fully vaccinated, with health centres offering free vaccination to qualified citizens and residents. ICA/Expat Media
