Guidelines for setting up iftar tents are released

The National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) has announced the guidelines for setting up iftar tents during Ramadan. The guidelines are in line with the public health and safety protocols and achieve the country’s sustainable recovery and normalcy. Iftar tent permits should be obtained from the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) with local committees and NCEMA teams that will approve the tent setup, define the number of people, and determine the location. Iftar tents should have a canopy design that is either open from all sides or air-conditioned along with the incorporation of safety and protection systems. Tent capacity shall be determined by local committees and teams and should have the capacity to observe 1-meter distance between participants. Security guards and volunteers should be provided to organize entry and exit processes and avoid greetings with physical contact. The tents are to be opened two hours before the time of Iftar (Maghrib call to prayer) with the mandatory implementation of the Green Pass system. Iftar tent organizers and personnel should provide masks and sterilization tools and remind people of preventive measures such as mask-wearing, physical distancing, and constant hand sterilization. On dining tables, disposable table covers, plates, cups, and utensils are mandatory as well as one-meter distance during sitting.
