New Ramadan 2022 guidelines for worshippers in UAE

The National Emergency, Crisis, and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) have released more relaxed COVID-19 guidelines for worshippers for the upcoming Ramadan, which is expected to start this April 2. The authority stated that the prayer times have returned to normal instead of the 5 - 10 minute gap during the pandemic to avoid mass gatherings. Tarawih prayers can be held in mosques again. Tahajjud prayers will also be held from midnight onwards at the mosques during the last 10 days of Ramadan. Sterilized copies of the Quran and bottled drinking water will be provided for the worshippers. The worshippers can pray in straight lines again in contrast to the X format during the pandemic, allowing more people to enter the mosques. Mandatory wearing of masks indoors and observing one-meter physical distance is still in place. NCEMA will continue to monitor the solution and adjust the needed changes. However, with the declining COVID-19 cases in the country, the authority also assured that the worshippers may be able to enjoy a normal and regular Ramadan for the first time since 2020.
