UAE overtime pay during Ramadan could reach 25%

Workers in UAE can avail 25 percent additional pay for working overtime during this Ramadan. The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE) has recently released the overtime pay guidelines along with the reduced two working hours for the holy month. Overtime should not exceed two hours in a day or extend more than 144 hours in three weeks unless the work is necessary for safety measures. Overtime pay cannot be availed for employees with management or supervisory roles or jobs with consecutive shifts that exceed 56 working hours per week. Employees eligible for overtime should request from the employer first regarding the additional pay. Workers may file a complaint to the MOHRE in case the employer does not pay the overtime despite their eligibility, provided that they can provide evidence of working more than the usual hours during Ramadan.
