UAE approves Sinopharm's new protein vaccine as booster dose starting 2022

  DUBAI – The Ministry of Health and Prevention has approved the emergency use of a new Sinopharm protein vaccine, which will be available to the public starting in January. The Sinopharm CNBG recombinatant protein vaccine is approved for emergency use in the UAE following strict monitoring and evaluation of a study conducted in the emirates. The vaccine will be available to the public as a booster dose starting January 2022 as part of the measures taken to contain the virus spread. According to the Ministry of Health and Prevention, vaccine test subjects in the UAE showed improved immune capacity against the SARS-CoV-2 variants. Volunteers for the new vaccine—who previously received two doses of the Sinopharm inactivated vaccine—also showed immune response against emerging coronavirus variants. Participants who received the new Sinopharm protein vaccine developed up to 100 percent of neutralising antibodies, and did not experience any side effects. The ministry affirmed that the emergency use of the new vaccine is in full compliance with the regulations and laws for a faster review of licencing procedures. The new vaccine tested with a high safety rate that allows rapid production and easy storage and distribution.
