UAE passport ranked most powerful in world: Here’s why

  DUBAI – The UAE passport has been ranked as the world’s most powerful passport, according to the Global Passport Index by Arton Capital. It placed higher than the UK, Canada and US passports, which ranked 24th, 25th and 26th respectively. So why is the UAE passport stronger than the rest? It’s because it achieved the highest mobility score for the passport holder, allowing visa-free entry to 152 countries. UAE passport holders also get visa on arrival in 54 countries. This isn’t the first time that the UAE passport has ranked the strongest in the world. The UAE passport topped the Global Passport Index in 2018 and 2019. The ranking is based on ease of international travel for passport holders and visa-free travel. In second place in the Global Passport Index is New Zealand’s passport, which offers entry to 146 countries. It is followed by passports of Germany, Finland, Austria, Luxembourg, Spain, Italy, Switzerland and South Korea, which complete the top 10 in that order. In the GCC, the Qatar passport ranked second strongest in the region, allowing visa-free entry to 91 countries and visa on arrival in 39 countries.
