UAE plans 100,000 golden visas for best coders

  DUBAI – The UAE has unveiled a strategy to give a total of 100,000 golden visas for the world’s best coders. The move is part of the National Programme for Coders to bring the best coding talent to the UAE and create 1,000 digital companies to boost the UAE economy. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, announced that the UAE has signed a deal with Google, Facebook and Amazon to train 100,000 youngsters in computer programming. “We launched a national programme for coders with Google, Microsoft, Amazon AWS, Cisco, IBM, HPE, LinkedIn, Nvidia and Facebook with aims to train 100,000 coders, establish 1,000 tech companies that will go global and increase start-up investments from Dh1.5 billion to Dh4 billion,” Sheikh Mohammed said. "The new programme represents a new step towards establishing our digital economy. The world is rapidly changing and the fast-growing digital economy will create new types of jobs. To thrive in the ever-evolving world, we must be ready to quickly cope with the emerging trends," he said. Coders may apply for the UAE golden visa through The Office of Artificial Intelligence in the UAE or the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship. Those eligible include: experts and talents in coding, computer experts in pioneering international technological companies, software engineering graduates, computer science graduates, information technology graduates, artificial intelligence graduates, data science graduates, electrical engineering graduates, and hardware engineering graduates.
