Dh400 for crossing roads from undesignated places

The UAE Federal Traffic Law states that stopping at crosswalks or parking in a way that obstructs pedestrian movement results in a fine of Dh400. Failing to give way to pedestrians at crosswalks costs a Dh500 fine and six black points. Pedestrians should follow directions when crossing roads since failure to obey pedestrian traffic signals or crossing from undesignated locations cost a Dh400 fine. The Abu Dhabi Police has started a campaign to increase the safety of drivers and pedestrians and to spread awareness of run-over accidents. The month-long campaign runs concurrently with Gulf Traffic Week. Also, it fits in with the strategic goals of the Abu Dhabi Police to improve traffic awareness and road safety. Brigadier General Mahmoud Yousef Al Balushi, Acting Director of the Traffic and Patrols Directorate, emphasized the dedication of the Abu Dhabi Police to running field operations that help to inform pedestrians about the safe crossing of the road and observance of light signals. He recognized the Department of Municipalities and Transport-Abu Dhabi's efforts to improve pedestrian traffic safety. This is by building bridges over internal and external roads, enhancing pedestrian crossings, providing passages with light signals, and repairing fence gaps along roads in coordination with the police.
