Unvaccinated Dubai school staff to get weekly PCR tests from April 11

DUBAI – Unvaccinated teachers and staff at private schools in Dubai will need to undergo weekly PCR tests starting on Sunday (April 11), according to the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA). The new mandate applies to teachers and staff, including outsourced workers and part-time workers, who are eligible for a Covid-19 vaccine but have opted not to take it. The decision affects staff at all private education institutes in Dubai, including early learning centres, schools, universities and training institutes. According to the KHDA, unvaccinated staff will need to take a weekly Covid-19 test, whether they are working remotely or in the school premises. Those who are on holiday do not need to take a PCR test. Staff who have taken their first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine and those who are not eligible for vaccination will be exempted from weekly testing. In Sharjah, students in private schools will be able to return to school after receiving a negative PCR test result. Schools were due to reopen for in-person classes on April 11. ICA/Expat Media
