Australian expat wins $1 million Dubai Duty Free draw after accidental ad click

DUBAI – An Australian expatriate in Abu Dhabi is now $1 million richer after accidentally clicking an ad about the Dubai Duty Free Millennium Millionaire draw. Riyaz T, 40, said he was browsing online for his daughter’s school project when the ad about the promotion popped up on screen that he “accidentally clicked”. “I checked it and decided to give it a try,” he said. It paid off for the Abu Dhabi resident after he won the jackpot in the draw on Wednesday (March 24). It was his first time to participate in the draw. He bought winning ticket number 1452 online on February 26. Riyaz, who moved from Sydney to Abu Dhabi more than a year ago, works at a hospital in Abu Dhabi. He is the seventh Australian to win the $1 million prize. “I think I made the right decision to give it a try on that day. This is a life changer,” he said.
