Follow Philippine Covid-19 travel rules or face arrest, DHA warns

  MANILA – Travelers entering the Philippines were warned to “strictly follow” local health and quarantine protocols or risk being arrested. The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) issued the warning to foreigners as well as returning overseas Filipinos arriving in the Philippines. "Violators will face arrest and their enablers will be disciplined," according to the DFA in its advisory on Friday. Currently, only the following travelers are allowed to enter the country as part of precautionary measures against the spread of Covid-19: - Filipino dual citizens - Overseas Filipino Workers - Returning Filipinos - Foreigner married to Filipino - Foreigner parent of Filipino minors - Foreigner parent of Filipino children with special needs - Minor children of Filipinos - Filipino children with special needs - Permanent and native-born visa holders - Foreign government officials traveling for assignment - Investors with EO 226 visa - Investors with Special Investors Resident Visa or 47(a)2 visa issued by Department of Justice - Foreigners with economic zone visas under Aurora Pacific Economic Zone, Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority, Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan, Cagayan Economic Zone Authority, and Clark Development Corporation - Holders of Section 9(g) visas who left the country starting December 17, 2020, and have valid ACr I-Card and Special Return Certificate All exempted foreign nationals are required to have a valid and existing visa at the time of entry to the Philippines. They must also have a pre-booked accommodation facility for at least seven nights in an accredited quarantine facility. The DFA advised travelers to plan their transportation, as well as secure a letter of acceptance from their destination, and a travel pass from any Philippine National Police ahead of their visit.
