Indian, Filipino, Egyptian split Dh1 million prize in Mahzooz draw
DUBAI – A Filipino, an Indian and an Egyptian have won Dh333,333 each in the recent Mahzooz draw in the UAE. The second prize winners matched five out of six numbers to split the Dh1 million second prize. The winning numbers were 15, 21, 24, 37, 38 and 45. Afsal, who hails from Kerala in India, said that winning with Mahzooz could not have come at a better time. “I’ve been jobless for a year. So, this money has come at the right time,” said the 38-year-old father of two. Afsal said he will use his winnings to start a small business and to secure his family’s future. “I will definitely support those who are out of a job because I’ve been there, and I know what it means and feels to be an unemployed family man,” he added. Afsal split the prize with Khandrix from the Philippines, and Mohammed, who hails from Egypt and has lived in the UAE since 2004. “I’ve been participating in Mahzooz ever since it launched and have won the fourth prize multiple times previously,” said Mohammed. “That evening when I won big, I was suffering from a neck pain after iftar, and before I went to take a pain killer, it came to my mind to check my Mahzooz account to see what happened in the latest draw,” he recalled. “When I checked my account, I was shocked. It took a while for the win to sink in. As a treasurer, I am used to seeing big numbers, but this was a different story. I cannot describe my feelings; I was instantly overwhelmed with happiness and my neck pain vanished!” he added. He plans to use his winnings to pay off his credit card debt and support his family in Egypt. “I’m also planning to donate some money to cancer patients in Egypt,” he said.
