Nine police officers killed in Pakistan suicide bombing

At least nine police officers were killed, and 13 were injured by a suicide bomber in Pakistan on Monday (March 6). The motorcycle-riding suicide bomber attacked the lorry from behind. No group claimed responsibility. Police Superintendent Mahmood Notezai confirmed that a police patrol was hit on a bridge in Kachhi, Balochistan province, in what is thought to be a suicide bombing. As of Wednesday (March 8), the exact nature of the attack has not yet been determined. Attacks are not uncommon in the southwest region of Balochistan, which is close to the Afghan border. Several separatist organizations based there fight the government in guerrilla fashion, notably the outlawed Balochistan Liberation Army. According to some Baloch organizations, the federal authorities are exploiting the province's abundant mineral resources. The group frequently targets police and military personnel. Although it is a different organization, it is comparable to the ideology of the Afghan Taliban. Tehrik-e Taliban Pakistan (TTP) called for widespread attacks.
