Acrobat falls to death on show with husband

While doing a routine in the air with her husband, an acrobat in China fell to her death. They have two kids together. In a video that has been making the rounds on social media, the incident happened as the couple, Sun Moumou and Zhang Moumou, both 37, were performing their act in front of an audience in the village of Hougao in central Anhui province. The couple is seen being lifted into the air by a crane in the middle of their scene, with Sun clinging to her husband by placing her hands behind his head as she stands on top of his feet. Sun's legs started to dangle in the air as they rose higher, though their routine went awry. She finally lost her grip before her husband could stabilize her, and the crowd could only scream in despair as they watched her fall 30 feet to the ground. One of Sun's coworkers told reporters she was "still breathing weakly" after the incident, indicating that Sun did not instantly pass away due to the accident. However, physicians declared her dead because of her injuries when she got to the hospital. Chinese officials are currently looking into the incident's cause. According to local accounts, the couple fought before the performance over Sun's reported refusal to wear a safety line, which several onlookers allegedly saw. According to The Paper, a state-run news website, artists were not provided with safety equipment to make their act appear "real." In an interview, Zhou refuted the charges and stated that he "can't disclose any specific details at this time." The show's producer was fined over $7,000 (Dh5706.80) due to the event for "holding commercial performances without approval." KD/Expat Media
