The groundbreaking “Red Carpet” system, developed by the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) Dubai in partnership with Dubai Airports, uses artificial intelligence, biometric cameras, and flight data integration to verify passenger identities instantly. Unlike traditional checkpoints that process one traveller at a time, the corridor can handle up to 10 passengers simultaneously, reducing crossing time to between 6 and 14 seconds per person. Special cases are automatically redirected to manual checks to maintain stringent security standards.

Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director General of GDRFA Dubai, said the innovation has already earned global praise. “This service has been described by local and international officials as a natural step for a city that knows no limits,” he said, commending the project team led by Major General Obaid Bin Suroor, Deputy Director General, for their role in bringing the vision to life. Brigadier Walid Ahmed Saeed, Assistant Deputy Director for Airport Affairs at GDRFA Dubai, explained: “This service, which is the first of its kind globally, allows you to complete your travel procedures in seconds without presenting any travel documents. Just by walking through this corridor, you have completed your exit.” Currently operational at Terminal 3, the system will expand to other terminals and arrival halls. Passengers only need to register once by linking their passport details to a biometric photo, after which they can use the corridor for all future journeys.
