Four people were injured after two drones fell near Dubai International Airport on Wednesday (March 11), according to the Dubai Media Office. Authorities said air traffic at the airport continues to operate normally despite the incident. Three people suffered minor injuries, including two Ghanaian nationals and one Bangladeshi. Another individual, an Indian national, sustained moderate injuries. Officials did not report any disruption to flight operations at the airport, which is widely known as the world’s busiest hub for international travel. The incident comes amid heightened regional tensions that have seen several security alerts issued across the UAE in recent weeks. Authorities said emergency teams responded quickly to the situation and confirmed that airport operations were not affected.

Earlier incidents

The latest development follows previous incidents near the airport this month. On Saturday (March 7), airport operations were briefly suspended before services resumed shortly afterward. Authorities later clarified that the disruption was linked to shrapnel that fell after a successful interception. Officials denied social media reports at the time suggesting a direct incident at the airport and confirmed that no injuries were recorded. Earlier on Sunday (March 1), four airport staff were injured after a concourse at DXB sustained minor damage during another incident. In a statement, Dubai Airports said emergency response teams were immediately deployed to contain the situation. “Dubai Airports confirms that a concourse at Dubai International (DXB) sustained minor damage in an incident, which was quickly contained. Emergency response teams were immediately deployed and are managing the situation in coordination with the relevant authorities,” the statement said. The airport operator said the four injured staff members received prompt medical attention. Officials added that contingency plans had already been activated before the incident, which meant most passenger terminals had been cleared earlier, helping to limit risk to travellers.
