Philippine Consul General Marford Angeles leads efforts to repatriate Filipinos granted amnesty in Dubai.

A total of 924 Filipinos have been repatriated from the UAE under the ongoing amnesty program, according to the Philippine Embassy. The latest repatriates included five undocumented children and 34 Filipinos who have overstayed their visas in Abu Dhabi. The repatriates were flown to the Philippines with the help of the Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Migrant Workers Office - Abu Dhabi, in cooperation with the Philippine Consulate General in Dubai. In Dubai, 51 repatriates arrived in Manila on November 8. In collaboration with UAE authorities, the embassy and consulate facilitated the repatriations, assisting individuals who had overstayed their visas. This amnesty initiative aligns with the Philippine government’s efforts to support overseas Filipino workers facing legal or financial challenges. Consul General Arvic Arevalo in Abu Dhabi, alongside Consul General Marford Angeles in Dubai, led the team in ensuring that all the Filipinos to be repatriated were given appropriate documents and support for their travel to the Philippines. Angeles emphasized that the consulate is committed to helping more distressed Filipinos in the UAE, urging them to contact the consulate if they need assistance. Since it began on September 1, the amnesty program has helped thousands of undocumented Filipinos, offering them a fresh start in their home country. The amnesty program has been extended to December 31. The Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi, Consulate General in Dubai, and Migrant Workers Offices in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, continuously urge Filipinos who have violations of the UAE residency system to avail of the amnesty through valid employment or to seek assistance for their repatriation.
