The UAE Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP) has called on visa overstayers to take immediate action to regularize their residency status before the amnesty period ends on December 31. The amnesty initiative, originally launched in September, was extended by two months to provide a final chance for individuals to rectify their status without penalties. Officials emphasized that after December 31, violators will face fines and legal action. “This initiative demonstrates the UAE’s humanitarian values and its commitment to providing opportunities for individuals to address their legal challenges,” said an ICP spokesperson. The amnesty allows overstayers to leave the country without penalties or secure employment contracts to continue residing legally in the UAE. The ICP confirmed an uptick in individuals rectifying their status during the extension period, particularly in November and December. Authorities stressed that the grace period is a one-time opportunity. After the deadline, intensified inspection campaigns will be launched in collaboration with government entities to identify violators. ICA/Expat Media
