The Department of Health – Abu Dhabi has announced a conditional waiver of health insurance fines for individuals who have overstayed their visas. According to the authority, fines will be cancelled for those who are granted amnesty and the chance to rectify their residency status in the UAE. This decision aligns with the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Ports Security’s initiative, which offers a two-month grace period starting September 1, 2024, allowing visa violators to amend their status without penalties. The department emphasized the importance of seizing this opportunity to renew or secure a health insurance policy, reinforcing its commitment to making healthcare services accessible to all residents of Abu Dhabi. Individuals who have overstayed are urged to obtain approval as soon as possible to benefit from this waiver and ensure compliance with the UAE's residency and health insurance regulations.
