The UAE visa amnesty programme has been extended for two months, the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Ports Security announced on Thursday (October 31). The scheme, which started on September 1, was initially set to end on October 31. However, with the extension, the programme will now end on December 31, 2024. Since its launch last September, thousands of overstaying expats have used this chance to change their visa status. Some have decided to leave the country, while others have chosen to stay, all without having to pay fines or face bans. The amnesty programme covers all types of visas, including tourist and other expired visas. Those who absconded from their sponsors and foreigners born in the UAE whose parents have not registered his or her residency within four months from the date of birth can also apply.
