The UAE is extending a lifeline to visa offenders through an ongoing amnesty program, with at least 15 major companies offering thousands of job opportunities to those looking to rectify their status and stay in the UAE. The amnesty program, which kicked off at the Al Aweer settlement centre, saw an immediate response, with over 100 individuals submitting requests within the first half-hour. Recruiters are conducting on-the-spot interviews and providing support for new employment visas to successful candidates. At Dubai's Al Aweer centre, private companies were invited to station booths where they can conduct interviews and hire people on the spot. Shahid Mahmmud, senior manager in recruitment services for Transguard Group, said that the company is offering nearly 15,000 jobs, which are also available to those applying at the amnesty centre. The recruiter said the vacancies are for jobs in construction, facility management and others. Mujeeb Rahman, deputy general manager at Hotpack, said they are planning to recruit skilled and non-skilled workers with an on-the-spot interview at the Al Aweer centre. Successful candidates will be given a new work permit “immediately”. Adham Hilal, project manager at Azizi Group, said they have more than 5,000 jobs available. Jobs are for qualified people in the construction sector such as carpenters, plumbers, electricians and more. The amnesty program, which allows overstaying residents to either regularize their residency status or leave the UAE without facing penalties, is expected to benefit thousands. Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director General of the GDRFA, emphasized that this initiative supports social stability and offers a chance for individuals to rebuild their lives.
