UAE authorities will crack down on visa overstayers starting November 1 as the amnesty program ends, according to the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP). This move marks the government's renewed efforts to enforce immigration laws and uphold national security standards. In a press briefing at the ICP headquarters in Sharjah, Major General Sultan Yousef Al Nuaimi, Director General of Residency and Foreigners Affairs, emphasized that the amnesty program, which offers overstayers a chance to regularize their residency status without penalties, will not be extended beyond October 31. "Those who fail to take advantage of this grace period will face immediate penalties, including the reinstatement of fines," Al Nuaimi said. The ICP will deploy inspection campaigns across the country, focusing on residential areas, industrial zones, and corporate establishments. These inspections will be coordinated with other relevant authorities to ensure that violators are identified and appropriate legal action is taken. "We are continuously monitoring locations where overstayers may be hiding. Our teams are working tirelessly to ensure a thorough inspection process," he added. Visa overstayers are encouraged to either find legal employment or leave the country during the amnesty period to avoid financial penalties and legal consequences. According to the ICP, overstayers who do not rectify their status or leave the country will be subject to immediate legal action, including deportation. The amnesty program, which began on September 1, has been a lifeline for many individuals, particularly those who have been affected by job losses or other challenges. However, officials reiterated that this is an exceptional opportunity, and overstayers must act promptly. "This is a golden chance for those residing in the UAE without proper documentation. The window to avoid fines and legal action is closing fast," Al Nuaimi warned. Residents and employers have been urged to spread awareness of the amnesty program's deadline to ensure as many overstayers as possible can benefit before the crackdown begins.
