The UAE’s Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP) announced an extension of the country’s visa amnesty program until December 31, offering overstayers two additional months to regularize their status. Initially set to end on Thursday (October 31), the program allows those with lapsed visas to avoid penalties by either leaving the UAE or adjusting their visas. Eligible residents have the option to either exit the UAE with waived fines or transfer their expired visas to valid permits, such as employment or residency visas. Authorities hope the extension will enable more residents to comply with UAE residency laws. The amnesty program has been part of the UAE’s commitment to streamline residency procedures. Since its introduction on September 1, thousands of residents have benefited from the program, particularly those who faced visa complications due to job losses during the pandemic. The ICP stressed that overstayers should visit designated amnesty centers across the UAE to begin the process.
