The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP) has confirmed that the UAE's visa amnesty program, which began on September 1, will not be extended beyond the October 31 deadline. The program offered a two-month window for visa violators to correct their legal status or leave the UAE without incurring fines. As the deadline looms, authorities have announced stricter measures, including deportations and a ban on violators from re-entering the UAE unless fines are settled. The ICP emphasized that there will be no leniency after the amnesty period. Authorities are already conducting intensive inspection campaigns in residential areas and businesses known to host visa violators. “We are committed to upholding the legal residency framework of the UAE,” an ICP spokesperson said. “Those who have received exit permits should leave before the deadline to avoid penalties.” The amnesty covers individuals who have overstayed their visas, including residency, tourist, and visit visas, as well as those who absconded from their sponsors. However, people who entered the UAE illegally or violated visa rules after September 1 are not eligible. There are growing concerns about the consequences for those who do not take advantage of the amnesty. “This is their final chance,” the spokesperson added. “Failure to comply will result in deportation, fines, and future restrictions on entering the UAE.” The program was initiated to motivate visa violators to regularize their status, providing a rare opportunity for many individuals and families living in the UAE illegally. However, authorities stress that after the amnesty expires, violators will face legal consequences. They also stated that inspection efforts will continue to locate and apprehend violators, ensuring that the country's legal framework is respected. In the lead-up to the October 31 deadline, residents are urged to remind friends and family who may still be out of legal status to take immediate action.
