The Embassy of India in Abu Dhabi has announced multiple measures to assist overstaying Indians for the upcoming two-month visa amnesty scheme which will start this Sunday (September 1). According to the embassy's statement, Indian amnesty applicants can visit any BLS centre in Al Reem, Musaffah, and Al Ain to apply for travel documents without any prior appointments. The embassy will also issue an emergency certificate (EC) for individuals wishing to return to India. These ECs can be collected from the Consular Office, Embassy of India, Abu Dhabi (101,102, first floor, Guardian Tower, Al Saadah Zone I) between 4 pm and 6 pm within 24 hours of submitting the application. Indian amnesty applicants can also apply for a short-validity passport at the BLS centres. During the two-month amnesty period, the BLS centres will be open on all Sundays from 9am to 5pm to serve applicants. For inquiries regarding the procedures, Indian applicants may contact 050-8995583 between 9am to 6pm. During the two-month amnesty period, the Federal Authority For Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) will waive fines and other penalties, allowing visa violators to change their residency status and start anew either in the UAE or with their families back in their homeland.
