Dubai Metro to run for 43 hours for Burj Khalifa fireworks

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced extended public transport operations to manage the massive crowds expected for the New Year’s Eve 2026 fireworks at Burj Khalifa. According to the RTA, Dubai Metro’s Red and Green Lines will operate continuously for 43 hours, starting 5am on December 31 (Thursday) until 12am on January 2 (Saturday). However, commuters should note that Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall Metro Station will close at 5pm, or earlier if crowd capacity is reached. Which Metro stations will remain open? To help visitors access the Downtown Dubai area, the following nearby stations will remain operational: • Emirates Towers Metro Station • World Trade Centre Metro Station • Financial Centre Metro Station • Business Bay Metro Station The RTA also confirmed that Dubai Tram will operate for 43 hours, running from 6am on December 31 (Thursday) until 1am on January 2 (Saturday).

Additional transport measures

• Dubai Water Canal elevators and pedestrian bridges in Jumeirah, Al Safa, and Business Bay will be closed • Shuttle buses will operate around the Burj Khalifa area • Public buses will be free of charge after the event, transporting passengers to metro stations, taxi ranks, parking zones, and alternative parking areas The RTA advised residents and visitors to use public transport wherever possible and allow extra travel time due to crowd control measures.
